Aberdeen will reflect on a season that has been excellent on the whole. A 40 goal turnaround and four straight losses for Celtic could have opened the door for Aberdeen to steal the Scottish League title, but in reality, a victory over Celtic was always the biggest opportunity to cap a good year for a team that has been far better than the “rest of the pack” in 2014-15.

Aberdeen had won four games in a row before losing to Dundee United last weekend. They’ve lost all three games to Celtic previously this season, including a disappointing 4-0 thrashing in February.

They’ll reflect on a game in November, where it took a last minute goal to decide the contest. This is still a serious challenge for the Dons, who have struggled to break down Celtic in all three previous games this season and they’ve not found it much easier to prevent the champions from scoring.
